Niseko Vegetable Picnic 2026, also known locally as “Vegipiku,” is a seasonal event that combines fresh Niseko vegetables with some of the best views around Mt. Yotei.

In 2026, the event runs from August 1 to October 12, with special food and drink menus at 14 participating businesses and eight scenic picnic and photo spots around Niseko.

I visited four of the eight spots in summer 2026: Arishima Memorial Museum, Takahashi Farm Milk Kobo, Roadside Station Niseko View Plaza, and the Niseko Distillery Second Warehouse.

The wooden terraces and carved benches make it easy to take memorable photos with Mt. Yotei and the rural Niseko landscape in the background. Each location feels different, so visiting several spots became part of the experience itself.

Niseko Vegetable Picnic 2026: My Experience at Four Scenic Spots
The official name is NISEKO Vegetable Picnic. The idea is simple: choose a seasonal menu made with Niseko produce, take it out, and enjoy it alongside one of the area’s scenic viewpoints.
- Step 1: Choose a Vegipiku menu from one of 14 participating businesses.
- Step 2: Pick one of the eight scenic spots.
- Step 3: Enjoy the landscape, take photos and have your picnic.
- Step 4: Use your vegetable coupon for another taste of local Niseko produce.

You do not need to visit all eight locations. I explored four, and each had a different atmosphere and photo opportunity.
1. Niseko Distillery Second Warehouse|Mt. Yotei Framed by a Wooden Terrace
This was one of the most memorable locations during my visit.
The wooden terrace is designed with repeating timber frames. When you sit inside, Mt. Yotei appears almost perfectly framed in front of you.

I visited on a bright summer day, and the combination of blue sky, green fields and Mt. Yotei was beautiful. It is also an easy place to create a distinctly Niseko-style travel photo with a person in the frame.
2. Arishima Memorial Museum|A Carved Horse Bench and Mountain Views
At Arishima Memorial Museum, the Vegipiku feature is a beautifully carved wooden horse bench.
The horse has surprisingly detailed features, making the bench itself worth seeing. According to the event information, the placement allows visitors to enjoy views toward Niseko Annupuri from one side and Mt. Yotei from the other.

During my visit, I was able to photograph the wooden horse together with the surrounding mountain scenery. It made for a very Hokkaido-like scene.
3. Takahashi Farm Milk Kobo|Wooden Tractor and Mt. Yotei
Takahashi Farm features a playful wooden tractor bench set against the Niseko landscape.

You can sit on the wooden tractor with Mt. Yotei in the background, creating a fun photo stop that works especially well as part of a regular visit to the farm.

I also found this spot easy to add to a wider Niseko sightseeing route rather than visiting solely for Vegipiku.
4. Roadside Station Niseko View Plaza|Food, Local Produce and a Photo Stop
Roadside Station Niseko View Plaza also has a wooden tractor bench, with Mt. Yotei rising behind the area when the weather is clear.

The big advantage here is convenience. The farmers’ market is nearby, so you can take a Vegipiku photo, browse fresh local vegetables and shop for Niseko produce in the same stop.
If your sightseeing schedule is tight, Niseko View Plaza is an easy way to experience a smaller taste of Vegipiku without touring all eight locations.

Niseko Vegetable Picnic 2026 FAQ
What is Niseko Vegetable Picnic?
Niseko Vegetable Picnic is a seasonal food and sightseeing event that combines dishes made with local Niseko vegetables and scenic picnic spots around town. In 2026, 14 businesses and eight scenic locations take part.
Do I need to visit all eight Vegipiku spots?
No. You can choose whichever locations fit your itinerary. I visited four spots and enjoyed the different scenery at each one. Even one or two locations can easily be added to a day of Niseko sightseeing.
Can I visit the scenic spots mainly for photos?
During my visit, the terraces and wooden benches were great places to photograph Mt. Yotei and the Niseko countryside. Always stay within the designated visitor areas and follow the rules at farms and working facilities.
Is Niseko Vegetable Picnic suitable for families?
Several locations, including Takahashi Farm, Niseko View Plaza and Arishima Memorial Museum, can be combined with regular family sightseeing. At locations close to farms or work areas, keep children away from restricted zones.
What do I get when I buy a Vegipiku menu item?
Eligible Vegipiku menu purchases come with a vegetable coupon. It can be used when buying local produce at the Niseko View Plaza farmers’ market, and additional participating-facility benefits are available in 2026.
What is the difference between Summer Vegipiku and Autumn Vegipiku?
The seasons and featured vegetables change. Summer Vegipiku runs from August 1 to September 20, while Autumn Vegipiku runs from September 21 to October 12, 2026.
Is a car useful for visiting the Vegipiku spots?
Yes. The eight locations are spread around Niseko, so a car is convenient if you want to visit several in one day. Another easy option is to combine one or two spots with places already on your Niseko itinerary.
Best Time to Visit & Important Vegipiku Tips
Look Beyond the View: The Wooden Terraces Are Part of the Experience
The scenery is the main attraction, but the wooden terraces and carved benches are also a highlight of Niseko Vegetable Picnic 2026.
Timber harvested in the Shiribeshi area of Hokkaido is used for the scenic terraces. New chainsaw-art wooden benches have also been installed, bringing the total number of terrace and bench locations to eight.
Each design is different. There is a horse at Arishima Memorial Museum, tractor-themed benches at Niseko View Plaza and Takahashi Farm, and other designs around town. Touring the wooden installations can become part of the adventure.

Mt. Yotei Looks Different Every Day
When I visited the Niseko Distillery Second Warehouse, the sky was bright blue and Mt. Yotei was clearly visible behind the terrace.
At other stops, clouds covered part of the summit. The same location can look very different depending on the weather, so consider the mountain view a bonus rather than something guaranteed.
Respect Farms and Working Areas
Useful tips before visiting
- Use only designated terrace and bench areas.
- Do not enter fields, warehouses or restricted areas.
- Give priority to farm work, maintenance and work vehicles.
- Use designated parking areas.
- Bring water and sun protection on hot summer days.
- Check opening days and menu availability before visiting.
Don’t Forget the Vegetable Coupon
When you purchase an eligible Vegipiku menu item, you receive a vegetable coupon.
The coupon can be used toward local produce at the Roadside Station Niseko View Plaza farmers’ market. In 2026, showing the coupon can also unlock additional benefits.
- Niseko Distillery: 20% off BAR menu items
- Niseko Ekimae Onsen Kiranoyu: ¥100 off adult admission and ¥50 off elementary/junior-high student admission
- Niseko Annupuri International Ski Area: 10% off summer gondola tickets
This makes Vegipiku easy to combine with shopping, sightseeing, a gondola ride or a relaxing hot-spring stop.
Who Will Enjoy Niseko Vegetable Picnic 2026?
- Travelers looking for great views of Mt. Yotei
- Anyone searching for photogenic Niseko locations
- Visitors exploring Niseko by car in summer or early autumn
- Travelers interested in fresh local vegetables
- Families looking for memorable sightseeing stops
- Visitors already planning to see Niseko View Plaza or Takahashi Farm
- Anyone wanting to discover a side of Niseko beyond skiing and winter resorts
If you prefer an entirely indoor itinerary that is unaffected by weather, making the scenic spots the main focus may not suit your trip. Views of Mt. Yotei naturally depend on the clouds and weather.
After visiting four locations myself, I came away thinking that Vegipiku is much more than a local vegetable food event.
There is the terrace that frames Mt. Yotei, the carved horse, the wooden tractors and the changing countryside between each stop.
Along the way, you can taste Niseko produce or shop for fresh vegetables at the roadside station.
Eat, see, photograph, explore and shop — that combination is what makes Niseko Vegetable Picnic special.
You can make a day of visiting all eight scenic spots, or simply add one or two to your existing Niseko itinerary. Either way, it is an easy way to create another memorable moment during a summer or autumn trip to Niseko.
Plan Your Niseko Vegetable Picnic Route
Many Vegipiku locations can be combined with well-known Niseko attractions, including Takahashi Farm, Arishima Memorial Museum and Roadside Station Niseko View Plaza.
Before setting out, check the official map and choose one or two scenic spots that fit naturally into your route.
