Winter fun just 3 minutes from town! A short ski session that still felt satisfying
I visited Asahigaoka Ski Area Kutchan(倶知安町旭ヶ丘スキー場) with my kids for the first time ❄️ I was surprised by how close it felt from central Kutchan (around Kutchan Station and the Super Coop area).

On January 2, 2026, we only had a short window (about 14:00 to just before 16:00). Having single-ride tickets and a multi-ride pack was a lifesaver. There were also sledding areas and an indoor rest space, so it felt like an easy, family-friendly winter spot
5 must-check highlights for this season
In this season, Asahigaoka Ski Area Kutchan has highlights that make it easy to feel satisfied—even if you only stay for a short time. Here are 5 points I think first-timers should definitely check.
While skiing, you can enjoy a wide view over Kutchan Town—and on clear days, you can ski while seeing Mt. Yotei too (as described with the photo) 👍

① Single-ride & multi-ride tickets = perfect for short sessions
From the posted pricing: a single ride was Adult ¥100 / Child ¥50, and an 11-ride pack was Adult ¥1,000 / Child ¥500. It made “just a quick ski” days really easy to plan.

② A day pass that still feels affordable

The posted day pass was Adult ¥1,500 / Child ¥800. We skied only a short time that day, but it was reassuring to know there’s a day-pass option for “let’s ski properly today” plans.
Note: In the Niseko area (Niseko United common pass), an adult 1-day lift ticket is provided as a rough guide at a little over ¥10,000 (about ¥11,000–¥12,000). Prices vary by timing and purchase method.
③ Easy-to-check hours (posted on-site)
The on-site notice showed 9:00–16:00, with the last lift at 15:40. Knowing this made it much easier to manage time with kids.

④ A separate sledding course for peace of mind
There was clear signage for a “sledding course,” and it was easy to understand where kids could safely enjoy sledding. Having it separated from the ski area felt like a big plus.

⑤ A cozy indoor rest space with warm wooden vibes
There was an indoor space to take a real break, and the wood-toned atmosphere felt comfortable. wasn’t open on our visit, but the ease of resting indoors was a major benefit.

FAQ: quick answers + simple prep tips
Prep tip: check the on-site notice for hours and lift last run time. If you’re eligible for resident benefits (as posted on-site), follow the on-site procedure and wristband instructions.
▼ Q1 Which ticket is best for a short ski session?
A. Because there are single-ride tickets and multi-ride packs, it felt easy to plan even for “just 1–2 hours.” The posted pricing was single ride Adult ¥100 / Child ¥50, and an 11-ride pack Adult ¥1,000 / Child ¥500.
▶︎ Q2 Where can I check today’s hours?
A. I confirmed it on the notice board near the ticket counter area. On our visit date (2026/01/02), it showed 9:00–16:00, with the last lift at 15:40.
▶︎ Q3 Is there night skiing?
A. The posted pricing included a night-ski ticket (Adult ¥1,000 / Child ¥500), valid from 17:00 to 20:30. Operating days were shown on a seasonal notice.
▶︎ Q4 Can kids enjoy sledding even if they don’t ski?
A. There was a clearly marked “sledding course,” and it was easy to see where it was safe to play. Separating sledding from the ski area helped a lot.
▶︎ Q5 Is there a place to rest or eat?
A. There was an indoor rest space with a comfortable, wooden feel. Food service can vary by day, so checking the on-site notice or asking at the counter is the most reliable.
▶︎ Q6 Are there free days or discounts for residents?
A. A seasonal notice mentioned a “town residents free day.” Another posted notice stated that Grade 6 and below elementary students with resident registration were free, with instructions for the reception procedure and wristband.

Wrap-up: why I’d happily come back—even for a short session
What stood out most was how easy it felt to enjoy winter fun without overplanning😊With kids, we could ski, sled, and take breaks at our own pace at Asahigaoka Ski Area Kutchan.
❄️The ticket options made it simple to match the day’s schedule, whether we wanted a quick couple of hours or a fuller day. Next time, I’d love to visit on a day when food service is operating and stay a little longer.
